Right now (at the time I’m writing this), we’re living every day with uncertainty due to everything that’s been happening. Even though this may be the case, that doesn’t stop us from planning our perfect summer wardrobe essentials for when quarantine ends. Or, maybe that isn’t the case and quarantine just simply isn’t stopping you from putting together some cute outfits.
Although it may suck to spend some money on items that are so “basic,” these pieces will ensure the foundation of your wardrobe is solid. It will make putting together outfits on a day to day basis just that much easier. Without these foundations, you won’t be able to conquer the fashion world – so these are all good investments that’ll keep you looking good all summer!
If you want to make sure that your wardrobe is ready for summer, get ready to update your wardrobe with these summer wardrobe essentials.
Yes, I know… very basic. White shirts are essentials all year round, but I thought I would mention them again here as a reminder. If you don’t have a plain white shirt then get on it! Plain white T-shirts are so versatile and can be styled in so many ways. Having a white tee in your wardrobe, will go with basically anything. You simply can’t go wrong with it!
Although many people may think that all white shirts are “the same,” there are some clear differences in the fabric, cut, neckline, etc. Make sure when you’re shopping for a white t-shirt, that you go in-store to try them all on. Find your perfect amount of “baggy,” your favorite neckline, your favorite fabric, you get the point.
If you’re not in a financial position to purchase new pieces, white shirts are pretty common at a thrift store. So go in, and see if you can find a shirt that fits you well!

Denim shorts are a classic must-have for any season really, but especially for summer. There are many different types of denim shorts, so make sure you find out which shorts flatter your body type the most before purchasing anything. You can read more about it here.
Blue denim shorts are standard, but there are some other colors you can also try out. There are also a lot of other things to consider, like how long you want them to be, how high waisted, how ripped, how washed out, and more. I’d suggest going on somewhere like Pinterest first to have a look at some denim shorts you like that will also flatter your body type.

I feel like crop tops are always a given whenever we see Youtubers do a summer clothing haul, and that’s for a good reason. Crop tops are literally so versatile! There are so many different types of colors, necklines, straps, fits, cuts, fabrics, ways you can style them, etc. They are a great item to put together some cute outfits while also not sweating your butt off the whole summer! Definitely one of the summer wardrobe essentials you need.

Tote bags are just so casual but cute at the same time. The thing about tote bags is that they do not only look cute, but they can actually hold everything you may need for a day. If you find the perfect tote bag, it should be able to fit many daily essentials like your laptop, makeup kit, wallet phone, keys, and more.
They also come in so many different colors so you can totally find one to go with your outfits. These bags are also super cheap which is amazing so you don’t need to spend too much money!

Patterned skirts are very summery and they are an easy way to style up an outfit. There are so many different types of skirts (such as A-line, midi, pencil, etc) and there will certainly be one that flatters your body type. Patterned skirts can also come in so many different prints and patterns – such as animal prints and plaid – and no matter what print or pattern, they’re all SO cute!

Now that we have talked about pattered skirts, patterned blouses are also a must! Blouses are a good way to dress up if your bottoms are casual. They are perfect if you’re looking for an item that is chic for a summer look, versatile, unique, and just overall adorable!
You can get blouses in all sorts of styles so make sure you have some sort of an idea of what type of close you would like. There are cropped blouses, long sleeve blouses (probably not ideal for summer), off the shoulder blouses, and the list just goes on…

Oversized T-Shirt Dress
Oversized tees are honestly perfect for any season, however, a T-shirt dress is a cute outfit for summer! They’re so casual and simple yet it still looks cute. It’s a perfect outfit for a day when you want to look put together but you’re also feeling a bit lazy.
There are just too many oversized shirts to choose from. You can honestly get them in all colors, prints, fabrics, cuts, and patterns. Lately, wearing biker shorts underneath a big shirt has been a super trendy and comfy outfit. Tie-dye shirts have also been coming back so that could always be a fun DIY if you don’t want to spend too much on a shirt.
Remember that oversized tees are super easy to thrift, so you don’t always need to spend your savings on clothing stores around you. It’s also amazing because thrifting is just so much more eco friendly and sustainable! There’s really no excuse for this not to be on your summer wardrobe essentials.

Floral dresses are a cute wardrobe staple for spring, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear it in summer. If you ask me, these pieces will look just as good and the best thing about floral dresses is how flowy most of them are. This will allow room for breathing space meaning that you’ll be super comfortable yet cute!
Pairing these dresses with some gold or silver jewelry would also tie the whole outfit together nicely and make a super cute fit. Maybe you can try layering your necklaces, or even experiment with some layer earrings to really add something extra to this outfit.

Lightweight Flannel or Cardigan
Flannels and cardigans come in so many different colours and are mainly a staple for autumn/winter. But, why not get a lightweight one for summer/spring?
If styled correctly, flannels are something you can wear for all seasons! Even if you just wear it unbuttoned over top a plain tee and denim shorts, the outfit would just look like you put so much more effort into it that you really did. They would also be really cute to wear on a colder or rainy summer day to give you some extra warmth.
Remember as well that there are many ways to style a flannel to suit the occasion. For example, if you’re creating a casual outfit, then you can tie the flannel at the front in a cute knot!
